Sections of the Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949 were amended in 2019 to require that all school police officers, school resource officers, and school security guards successfully complete a 40-hour Basic School Safety and Security Officer Training approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. School security personnel intending to work in a school setting are required to receive this instruction prior to employment.
